Since successfully completing a three year Studio Ceramics course at Chesterfield College of Art and Design in 1980 my work has covered a wide range of techniques and materials. The present use of white stoneware enables me to model and use the wheel with the same clay. I work mostly to commissions and many of the pieces are repeatable but not identical.

Thrown work - I mostly use thrown techniques for domesticware pieces.

Hand built - I use a variety of techniques, slab method and coiled.

Decoration - Incised and applied clay.

I am inspired by the natural landscape and birds and these influences are strongly represented in my work. Seascapes and my local area of the Somerset Levels feature in many pieces. Current inspirations include the newly re introduced European Cranes onto the Somerset Levels.

I hope you enjoy looking at my Clayworks as much as I enjoy making them
